STAN BRAKHAGE HAS BEEN A FAVORITE artist and filmmaker of mine for some time. His influence on my work has been similar to that of Robert Motherwell. He did abstract direct-on-film "animation;" works of art on celluloid film designed to be played back, sometimes to music. The music in the video below was added later. His work definitely pushes me to think more dynamically about my own experimental and abstract film making, and challenges me to think differently about media that people are all using the same way.
