I DON'T TALK ENOUGH ABOUT WHERE I LIVE in this space. It has a dramatic impact on the work I do, and how I go about doing it. I live in an intentional community across socio-economic, racial and cultural lines. I get to live alongside people from over 25 countries in a primarily low-income apartment complex. I learn so much from my friends and neighbors there, constantly finding my perspective being challenged and deepened.The grace of God runs deep and wide in our community - and we are in need of that grace above anything else. I so firmly believe that God is calling his people, the Church, to receive the gift he has given them of being in real relationship with those who are in material, social and spiritual need in this world. It is such joy to watch his transforming Kingdom come into individuals, families and communities.
Living across cultural boundaries of race, class and ethnicity is a movement that God is growing in incredible ways here in the Chicagoland area. Young single people, families, empty nesters, all placing themselves in the midst of those who God is calling them to engage with right in their back yards. It is a beautiful and exciting thing to not only see, but participate in.
