I GOT A CANON 50MM LENS today. It's fun. Art is fun. I've been thinking about my artistic influences, and how important it is as an artist, and I believe as a human being, to surround yourself with good work. My influences aren't necessarily artists I imitate in my end work, though that happens, but more people whose thoughts influence my work. They start to form my
artistic lens - the way I see and think about art. Examples you say? For me:
Wendell Berry (poet, philosopher),
Robert Motherwell (painter/collage artist),
Francois Truffaut (filmmaker),
Ken Burns (documentarian), among many others.
Bonus: Ken Burns just came out with a
new documentary on the National Parks. It premiered Sunday on
PBS. You should watch it.
Double bonus: Here's a set of photos with my new lens.
